Four Oaks

  • On the corner of A and 23rd, about 2 blocks from the school.
  • There is no dishwasher. Washer/dryer on site. Assigned parking (1 spot).
  • Landlord pays water/sewer/garbage. You pay electric.
  • They have 1 or 2 bedroom apartments. some of the 2 bedrooms have been remodeled, with new windows and bright blue carpet. The rest have brown carpet, single paned windows (prone to mold) and a yellow mottled glass window in the front room.
    • One bedrooms apts are pretty large (the same sq. footage as the boxer 2 bedrooms). $450/month.
    • Unremodeled two bedrooms are $510/month, and I think the remodeled ones are $600 or $650.
  • They don’t have a website, and there is no waiting list, so you have to call the manager (503.314.7775)or stop by.
PAVA members say, "They are about as cheap as you can get without being subsidized (especially for the size and how clean they are). They’re not beautiful, but if you can tolerate an older-looking apartment it’s a good deal."

The manager thinks she can say that children under 8 have to be on the bottom floor (she thinks it's safer for them, and I think she really has good intentions), but it's against FHA, and they can't tell you where you have to live. So, I guess you can decide how you want to deal with that if it effects you.

Personally, I don't know if it's a great complex to live in if you have kids anyway, there is no park or outdoor space to play, and there are only maybe 10 2-bedroom units.
